This Is Only Getting Worse

Jerusalem is divided by a mysterious crack, pulling any metal object around it. Revital, a woman in advanced pregnancy, is trying to get to the crack in order to kill herself and the baby she carries. The city is empty and the only man willing to take her is Nissim, a homeless taxi driver. He agrees to take her there in exchange for her apartment. As they are getting closer to the crack, the city is losing its original form, shedding layers of culture and memory.

We had the idea for the film before the current crisis and we were trying to depict a complex and intense life in Jerusalem, and in Israel in general through existential anxiety and the fear from crises yet to come. During the creation process the themes of the film became part of our life and we often wondered - why should we make the film in this kind of atmosphere. We feel that it is important to keep asking ourselves how we would manage to act in complex and extreme situations and think of the questions they raise. Feeling such as anxiety, fault and escapism became a big part of our life and those are the feelings that are driving the characters in our story.
