A storm, seen from a non-human perspective.

The brief

A short animated film exploring the narrative and visual perspective of the nonhuman. The film follows a storm simultaneously experiencing ordinary human stories disrupted in its wake. Through brutalist 3D, multi-focal editing, and unique sound design, the project imagines an extra-corporeal viewpoint, distancing itself from the singular hero’s journey and the human camera lens.

What I did

How can we imagine an animated narrative that is not strictly unifocal? The project “No Significant Change” proposes a narrative framework not driven by a human “hero”, but rather through the perspective of a storm. The cloud, devoid of a conventional lens, is exposed to simultaneous human stories unfolding during a storm, ranging from a young man seeking escapism to a bus driver in the Arava desert.

The working process began with a script I wrote during a student exchange semester in MOME, Budapest. It evolved into visual experiments inspired by multi-pinhole cameras and collages, in an attempt to capture a multi-focal vision. The final platform was created in a 3D environment using an abstract-brutalist style. The cloud’s narrative and visual perspective is formed through visual and temporal collage, alongside a psycho-acoustic soundtrack that creates the experience of dwelling within matter.

I wanted the camera and the animation to behave in ways no off-the-shelf tool gave me, so I built custom procedural systems in Blender and animated through Blender controlled by Claude. Claude Code ran a modular workspace that held the project together. On top of that sits a multi-hole camera obscura effect.
